Italy sets new record for coronavirus deaths: 793 in 24 hours



Italy recorded a new record for deaths from coronavirus in 24 hours, with 793 records this Saturday (21).
This brings the number of people killed by the pandemic in the peninsula to 4,825 in one month, according to Civil Protection data.
Last Thursday (19), Italy surpassed China in number of deaths by Covid-19. Until that day, the European country had counted 3,405 deaths since the outbreak began, while the Chinese registered 3,245.

Also remember new cases

This Saturday, Italian authorities announced 6,557 new positive cases , another record.
The total number of cases rose to 53,578, an increase of 13.9%, the protection agency said.
The Milan region, Lombardy (north), where health services are overloaded, recorded the vast majority of deaths (546) this Saturday and half of the new cases. There, the total reaches 3,095 deaths and 25,515 cases.
Of the people originally infected across the country, 6,072 had fully recovered by Saturday, compared with 5,129 the previous day.
There were 2,857 people in intensive care versus the previous 2,655.
