Mercado no superlativo

Capital do Subúrbio, Berço do Samba

“A” Praça do Samba.
Volume do cabelo afro orgulhosamente assumido.

Bora pra Madureira? =)

Mexico to Trump: 'Social problems do not solve with taxes'

In response to Washington's announcement of tariffs on Mexican products, López Obrador states that the motto "United States First" is a "fallacy"

Mexican President Andres Manuel López Obrador responded to US President Donald Trump's tariff threats and said in a letter sent to the Republican that "social problems can not be solved by taxes or coercive measures."
Obrador also affirmed that the Trump government's motto "United States First" is a "fallacy" and that Mexico, contrary to Washington's claims, is fulfilling "as far as possible and without violating human rights" the commitment of to avoid the traffic of immigrants from Central American countries to the American territory.
"Humans do not abandon their people by wanting, but by necessity," he wrote in the message, shared on his Twitter page.
"With all due respect, even if it has the sovereign right to express it, the motto 'United States first' is a fallacy, because until the end of time, even across national borders, universal justice and brotherhood will prevail" .
Trump threatened to impose punitive tariffs on July 10 if Mexico does not stop the flow of illegal immigration from Central America to the United States.
A White House statement released after the US president's message informs that import tariffs on Mexican products will be raised to 10 percent on July 1, "if the crisis persists." Then, they will increase another 5% each month, for three months, until reaching 25% on October 1st.
During a routine press conference on Friday, President López Obrador said he would respond with "great caution" to the tariff threats and urged Mexicans to unite to deal with this challenge.
The president also announced that Mexico's foreign minister, Marcelo Ebrard, will go to Washington on a mission to convince the US government that Trump's measures do not serve the interests of any country.
Mexico has the United States as its main trading partner, to which it destines more than 80% of its exports. The two countries share 3,200 km of a border that many illegal immigrants, weapons and drugs pass through.
Since last October, Mexico has been seized by waves of migrants, mostly Central Americans, who are trying to reach the United States by fleeing violence in their countries.
Trump had already threatened Mexico with the closure of the border if the neighbor did not stop the influx of illegal immigrants.
After coming to Mexico's presidency in December, leftist López Obrador relaxed immigration controls, which multiplied the influx of migrants.
According to Trump, on Wednesday 29 1,036 illegal immigrants who crossed the border between Ciudad Juárez and El Paso (Texas), a record number, were detained.

Trump admits Russia has acted to elect him in 2016, but back

Shortly after posting a message on Twitter, President backed down and harshly criticized Attorney General Robert Mueller

US President Donald Trump acknowledged in a tweet Thursday that Russiahelped elect him. But he quickly stepped back from talking to the press.
To this day, Trump had been adamant, claiming that he won the 2016 election fairly and minimizing the impact of what the American intelligence community described as a concerted effort by Moscow to intervene in his favor.
"Russia, Russia, Russia! You only heard this at the beginning of this witch hunt, "trump Trump, a day after special prosecutor Robert Mueller publicly spoke about his findings from the investigation into Moscow's interference in the 2016 election campaign.
"And now, Russia has disappeared because I had nothing to do with Russia helping to elect me," he added, admitting for the first time that Moscow acted in his favor.
Later, Trump retreated to reporters at the White House. "No, Russia did not help elect me," he said. "Do you know who elected me? I elected myself, "added the 45th president of the United States.
On Wednesday, 29, in a 10-minute speech, special prosecutor Robert Muller, a former FBI director, reiterated that he had not collected "evidence" of an agreement between Moscow and the campaign team of candidate Trump.
He was careful, however, to point out that he could not exempt the president from suspicions of obstruction of justice. He also said that the country's constitution prevents him from making any formal accusation against the Republican.
For Donald Trump, the case is closed. "There was no obstruction, there is collusion, there is nothing, nothing except a witch hunt," he said. Asked about Mueller's professionalism, he directly questioned his integrity: "It's someone who does not like Donald Trump."
According to the official, the special prosecutor "should never have been appointed" to conduct investigations into Russia's interference. If Mueller's speech did not bring new elements to the case, he revived appeals to begin a process of impeachment against the billionaire, a subject that deeply divides the Democrats.
The latter have a majority in the Chamber of Deputies and therefore are able to launch this process. But given the Republican majority in the Senate, its failure is almost certain.
Trump was asked if he fears the opening of an impeachment process. "I do not see how they could do that," he said before embarking on the Marine One presidential helicopter waiting for him on the White House lawn.
"This whole thing is just a giant presidential siege."
In June last year, during a press conference after his meeting with Vladimir Putin in Helsinki with Vladimir Putin, Trump said he did not believe that Russia had interfered in American politics. The president even went so far as to suggest that US intelligence agencies were wrong in favor of the Moscow investigations.

Trump announces tariffs on Mexico in effort to stop migrants coming to the US

esident Donald Trump announced Thursday that a new 5% tariff will be imposed on Mexico in an effort to pressure the country to stop the ongoing influx of migrants from Central America making their way to the U.S.-Mexico border.
"On June 10th, the United States will impose a 5% Tariff on all goods coming into our Country from Mexico, until such time as illegal migrants coming through Mexico, and into our Country, STOP," Trump tweeted, adding that the "tariff will gradually increase until the Illegal Immigration problem is remedied."
Trump's announcement is the latest move from the White House to try to prevent migrants — the majority of whom are coming from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador — from crossing into the United States via Mexico.
A 5% tariff will begin on June 10, but would be removed if Mexico takes "effective actions" to alleviate the "illegal migration crisis," which will "be determined in our sole discretion and judgment," Trump said in a separate statement issued by the White House shortly after Trump's tweet. However, "if the crisis persists" tariffs will increase to 10% on July 1, Trump also said in the statement.
Mexico’s new president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, took a similar approach after assuming office in December after vowing during his campaign he would not do the “dirty work” of the United States. His government started issuing one-year humanitarian visas to migrants arriving in Mexico, allowing them to work and cross the country without having to hire a smuggler.
But all that assistance came to a halt in recent months. López Obrador’s administration ended the visa program, ordered bus operators to stop ferrying migrants across the country, and started arresting and deporting far more Central American migrants.
In April, Mexican immigration officials and federal police detained 371 migrants marching in a caravan in the largest operation to date against migrants. Local police departments have even blocked off roads leading to town centers where residents had previously welcomed migrants with open arms.
Immigration has been a policy focus for Trump since early in his 2016 presidential campaign, when he promised to build a wall along the southern border and blasted Mexico for "not sending their best."
Since then, the president's rhetoric has gotten more intense.
He has repeatedly called the influx of migrants from Central America an "invasion." Many of the migrants are heading to the U.S. to seek asylum from growing gang violence and economic turmoil. Most recently, Trump has said that "our country is full" and that the U.S. can no longer take migrants.
"As President of the United States, my highest duty is the defense of the country and its citizens," Trump said in the statement issued by the White House. "A nation without borders is not a nation at all.  I will not stand by and allow our sovereignty to be eroded, our laws to be trampled, or our borders to be disrespected anymore."

Obama says success of a country is linked to education

On a visit to Brazil on a day that coincided with another series of protests against cuts in the education budget, former President Barack Obama said today (30) that no country can succeed if it does not invest in education. "Giving education and social services is not charity, it's an economic development tool," Obama said, speaking to a public of more than 10,000 people in São Paulo at a digital innovation and technology event promoted by VTex and whose value of the tickets reached R $ 2,500.
"If a country does not invest in people, it will probably not be successful," said the former US president, explaining that investment in education also is an investment in the economy and the market.
"Sometimes, especially in Latin America, where there are political divisions between left and right, everything is very ideological, I see that people do not believe in government and the market. But there is no functioning market without good government.
And if you do not have a good education system, do not have a good market, "Obama said.
"A country needs laws, transparency, accountability, tax base, infrastructure, investments in schools. All these things make a good market, better to do business, "he said. "I remember the first time I was in Brazil as president. I saw some boys playing soccer in a favela in Rio de Janeiro and I remembered my childhood, several ideas came to my head. I was like those boys. The only difference between me and them is that I was lucky enough to have an education, "Obama said. Underscoring the role and his mother and his teachers in their training, Obama also talked about inequality.
"A talented person deserves to be rewarded for it. The issue is not total equality. But yes, provide opportunities for people equally, "said Obama, who ruled the United States between 2009 and 2017.
According to Obama, in Brazil, the United States and the world, in general, it is necessary to "improve children's ability to analyze information" and think critically. "We have to improve children's ability not only in calculations or math, but in analyzing information, new information and situations," he said.
This Thursday, Obama spoke for an hour. In addition to education, he tackled issues such as environment and technology and criticized current weapons legislation in the United States.
While Obama was speaking, protesters took to the streets for the second time this month to protest against cuts in the education budget proposed by the federal government and in acts contrary to President Jair Bolsonaro. It was the second time Obama has come to Brazil since leaving the White House. The last visit came in 2017. "I love Brazil, but I have to say that São Paulo traffic is very bad, even with scouts," joked the former president. Before speaking in Sao Paulo, Obama met with Pelé

The Central Bank Wants to Allow Dollar Bank Accounts in Brazil

Measure is part of an exchange rate convertibility project, which depends on new rules

The Central Bank wants individuals to have accounts in dollars in Brazil to facilitate remittances to those who have debts or obligations to pay in the American currency. It also wants people to be able to keep accounts in reais in other countries, said the president of the monetary authority, Roberto Campos Neto, on Wednesday (29).
The new measure is part of a currency conversion project. It also integrates Agenda BC#, the new name of the old BC+ Agenda, promoted by the management of Ilan Goldfajn.
Currency convertibility makes it easier to exchange one currency for another. It depends on the confidence that the parties involved in the operation have in the value of the two currencies and the economies of the countries.
For this, the first step is to change the legislation that sets the exchange rules in Brazil to make it more flexible.
Otávio Damaso, director of the Central Bank, points out that in some sectors of the economy, it is already allowed to have a foreign account in the country, such as insurance, infrastructure, oil, and gas. With the new rules, any company would have that possibility.
The measure would allow, for example, an exporter to receive the dollar payment directly in Brazil instead of keeping the money in a bank abroad and wait for the best moment of the exchange to repatriate the resources. As a result, the costs and risks of currency exposure would be reduced.

Inspirado por 'Rocketman'? Conheça 7 biografias sobre estrelas da música

Elton John, Kurt Cobain, Mick Jagger…

Prosecutor rejects Trump's innocence and increases pressure by impeachment

Pre-presidential candidates for the Democratic Party have publicly called for the opening of the process

Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller broke a two-year silence yesterday and said his report of an investigation into a supposed collusion of Donald Trump'selection campaign   with Russia in 2016 did not relieve the president of responding to crimes. The statements have increased the pressure for Democrats to initiate impeachment in the House.
Democratic presidential contenders Cory Booker, Kirsten Gillibrand and Pete Buttigieg have publicly called for the opening of the process.

"Congress has a moral and legal obligation to initiate impeachment proceedings immediately," said Booker, who is a New Jersey senator. "This is as close to an indication of impeachment we will get," Buttigieg, Indiana's mayor, tweeted.

Senator Vermont and pre-candidate Bernie Sanders did not publicly back a recall but said that if the House Judiciary Committee "deems necessary," it will support their "decision to open an impeachment investigation."
For now, however, there is still resistance among Congressional leaders. House Speaker Democrat Nancy Pelosi has calmed the mood within her party in recent months and yesterday kept her tone on the possibility of a recall.
Jerry Nadler, chair of the Judiciary Committee, has also been attuned to Pelosi. Both defended that the Congress go deep in investigations on Trump, but they did not clearly defend an impeachment. "It's up to Congress to respond to the president's lies, crimes and irregularities," Nadler said.
In the last two months, the shadow of Mueller's investigation left the White House and hovered over the Democrats. Since the special prosecutor concluded the investigation, the opposition faces a deadlock.
On the one hand, the conclusions are serious enough that the constituency faithful to the Democrats and critic to Trump leave the history behind. On the other hand, party leaders understand that stopping debating local issues to invest in impeachment can lead to population exhaustion and, if the process is unsuccessful, the opposition will wear out on the eve of the election.
Although Mueller made it clear that he did not clear the president, Trump went on to repeat that no sufficient evidence was collected to incriminate him. "Nothing changes in relation to Mueller's report. There was insufficient evidence and, in our country, the person is innocent. The case is over! "Trumpled Trump.
Mueller emphasized in his statement information already contained in the report and stated that "there were multiple and systematic efforts of interference" in the American elections. "It is important that the report speaks for itself. He is my testimony and I will not say anything besides what is written on it. "
"If we were sure that the president did not commit a crime, we would have said that," he said, warning that the country's constitution prevents him from making any formal accusation against the Republican.
The pressure for impeachment provoked reactions in the White House. A spokeswoman, Sarah Sanders, said the government was prepared for it, but the "American people" did not deserve a deposition process.
"Every minute that Congress spends on this is not spent on infrastructure, it is not spent on reducing drug prices, it is not spent in Iran, China, North Korea, on new trade agreements. It's a disservice, "he said.
Throughout the afternoon, the American press analyzed the possibility of impeachment. A poll released on May 1 shows that most Democratic voters support the opening of the process based on the investigation report.
But when added to Republican and independent voters, 53% of Americans are against impeachment, 39% are in favor and 8% are undecided.
"Democratic leaders in the House do not want impeachment. They know they will need to fight to keep the seats they have won from Republicans in 2018. And impeachment will not happen in the Senate, "said Gary Nordlinger, a professor at George Washington University. "It's not like at Watergate, where we had the voice of Richard Nixon recorded planning obstruction of justice."
Currently, Democrats concentrate the majority of seats in the Chamber of Deputies, even more are a minority in the Senate.
