1. Cult classic 'Ghostbusters' returns to theater for 30th anniversary
Boo! Now who are you going to call? Iconic sci-fi action flick Ghostbusters returns to the silver screen Friday to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The ghost-catching foursome of Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson, and their client Sigourney Weaver, brought $291.6 million in worldwide box office during it's initial run. And the years to follow brought a sequel in 1989'sGhostbusters II, an animated TV series and video games.

2. Putin urges release of trapped Ukraine forces
Amid mounting accusations that Russian forces have invaded Ukraine, President Vladimir Putin called for the release of Ukrainian soldiers who have become surrounded by pro-Russian separatists. Although Putin voiced a desire to "avoid any needless loss of life," Ukrainian, American and NATO officials say he is not only fueling the violence in eastern Ukraine by arming and supplying rebel forces, but has sent at least 1,000 Russian troops into Ukrainian territory. Russia has denied deploying the troops and has described them as "volunteers."
3. Tony Stewart holds news conference on weekend return
Three-time Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart will return to racing this weekendat the Atlanta Motor Speedway, but not before he addresses the media at the speedway Friday. After a collision this summer that killed Kevin Ward Jr., Stewart is expected to address his return in one of his first public appearances since the accident. Soon after Stewart steps away from the microphone, NASCAR President Mike Helton will speak.
4. Former Va. governor Bob McDonnell's corruption case goes to jury
After weeks of testimony, closing arguments are expected Friday in the trial of former Virginia governor Bob McDonnell and his wife, Maureen, who are accused of illegally accepting more than $165,000 in gifts and loans from wealthy businessman Jonnie Williams. The verdict will then be in the hands of the jury, which will have to decide on 14 counts of corruption, accepting bribes and obstructing an investigation.
5. Malaysia Airlines announces company changes
Malaysia Airlines — still reeling from two disasters just months apart that killed hundreds — announced Friday that it will cut more than 6,000 workers and it will undergo a $1.9 billion overhaul, funded by the Malaysian government. A new company will be formed to take over the existing airline and the search for a new CEO is already underway. Meanwhile, more clues were released Thursday on the disappearance of Flight 370, including a failed call that may be key in locating the plane.
