Emmy Awards handed out tonight
The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Seth Meyers, will air NBC Monday night at 8 p.m. ET. You can see the full list of nominees here. Michael Brown's funeral to be held in St. Louis
Michael Brown's funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis. The 18-year-old will be laid to rest more than two weeks after his fatal shooting by a white police officer, which sparked a wave of violent protests in Ferguson, Mo. Across the country, the shooting has become a symbol of racial injustice. President Obama is sending three White House aides to the funeral. Rev. Al Sharpton will deliver the eulogy. U.S. Open begins in New York
The U.S. Open begins Monday at 11 a.m. at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, N.Y. Defending champion and No. 1 seed Serena Williams will play for her sixth U.S. Open title. Luckily for Williams, she has won the title both times she's previously been No. 1 seed (2013 and 2002). Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer are the favorites on the men's side.

Napa Valley wineries rattled after quake
Near the height of annual harvesting and tourist season, California's Napa Valley wineries were struck hard by Sunday's magnitude-6.0 earthquake, but many reported surprisingly light damage. The official Visit Napa Valley Welcome Center is expected to re-open Monday. Napa is home to nearly 800 wineries, which produced 49.7 million cases of wine in 2012, according to the Napa Valley Vintners, a trade association. The association puts the industry's U.S. economic impact at $50 billion.
Obama returns from two-week vacation
President Obama is back in the White House after two weeks in Martha's Vineyard – minus a brief return to D.C. – and he is returning to a host of national and international crises. Among the issues facing the president are the racial tensions in Ferguson, Mo., a fight with Congress over immigration reform, the battle against Islamic State in Iraq, growing Russian aggression along the Ukrainian border, and a Chinese fighter jet that provocatively buzzed a Navy plane in international air space.
