OVERCOMING

web 478629571

Talk about overcoming usually involves a sad story of a person who suffered much despite all the problems and mishaps managed to overcome the worst adversity and "win" in life.

The Hollywood cinema and the self-help books are full of very exciting and well numbered examples of stories of people who overcame what most would consider impossible.

In addition to deeply touch the emotions of viewers, these stories have the power to give hope through a catharsis with the ills of their lives. They show that with a little persistence and a lot of merit, can be changed by any more adverse situation she is.

At this point we find ourselves at a crossroads that raises many philosophical discussions and many passions, especially in the world we live in today, divided between the social gains and capital profits.

Overcoming is used as an advertising "window" in which the individual identifies himself through merit.
If you work hard, persevere and know seize opportunities, he will have everything the material world can offer at your fingertips.
However, in most cases, individuals work all your life, persist and face the greatest hardships, but the opportunities never come.

At the same time, a small percentage that can have their stories turned into Homeric narratives of personal effort as any changes reality.
The paradox lies precisely in this interpretation. How to put all individuals subjected to the same reality, as if in a race track, where everyone begins to "run" the same starting point?

This idea of merit, and transform life into a competition, still assumes that, for various and disparate that are the contexts of life of individuals, they walk the same path opportunities.

What we are discussing here is not the value that those people who have overcome a life of hardship and have achieved their goals or not, but as these stories are used to place the blame for any eventual failure only and exclusively the responsibility of the individual. And that's a mistake.

We created the frustration of "did not work out" or "bad luck" in a life that often have other potentials.
And this individual responsibility not only fits the individual, but must be shared mainly by the society that surrounds it.
It was this social group who somehow thought that the skills displayed by him were not useful. Thus, he should stand aside and make room for those who really "deserved".

Overcome the difficulties of life is a condition inherent to any human being who wakes up every day.
Not a big thing, because we are all subject to it, even when the situation is extremely unfavorable.
This condition should not make those who have achieved more proud, nor of those who were unsuccessful, more submissive.
This condition should make us more compassionate, more aware of the problems and difficulties of others, which in fact are also ours.

Let us not take the merit of those who have it, but do not condemn to failure those to whom the luck did not smile.
