According to Wikipedia there are 2,095 beaches in Brazil. However, that probably doesn’t include the ones that magically appear in some of the off beat, hidden parts of Brazil that Google maps hasn’t even found. This means there are plenty more paradise beaches yet to be discovered. In the meantime here are 10 beaches we have visited and think are superb along with the uniquely beautiful pousadas nearby.

Praia do Riacho, São Miguel dos Milagres, Alagoas – glorious aquamarine waters, unspoilt beaches and waterfalls. You can visit all the beaches along Alagoas’ Costa das Corais starting with Praia do Riacho on to Praia de Toque , Porta da Rua and ending up in Praia do Patacho.

 Praia do Preá, Ceará – a beach that just seems to go on forever, with just a few bars and a kitesurfing school. What more do you need!
