SAO PAULO (AP) -- The approval rating for President Dilma Rousseff has plunged to new lows amid Brazil's economic troubles and the huge corruption scandal at Petrobras, the state energy company.
A poll released Tuesday by the MDA polling institute said only 8 percent of Brazilians surveyed consider Rousseff's government to be "great" or "good." By contrast, 71 percent said the government is a "failure."
An MDA poll four months ago put Rousseff's approval rating at 11 percent, while 65 percent of those surveyed said her government was "bad" or "terrible."
The latest MDA poll was conducted for the National Transport Confederation, which represents private transportation businesses. The poll questioned 2,002 people between July 12 and 16 and has a margin of error of two percentage points.
