Trump slips in new poll, Fiorina, Carson and Bush up

Donald Trump has slipped as several rival candidates have gained on the 2016 GOP front-runner, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll following the second Republican debate.
Trump is supported by 25 percent of Republicans and those leaning Republican in the survey released Thursday, ticking down 3 points in the poll since last month.
Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson is supported by 17 percent, businesswoman Carly Fiorina gets 12 percent and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush snags 10 percent in the poll.
That represents a 7-point increase for Fiorina, who has sparred with Trump, since last month, as well as a 5-point gain for Carson and 3-point gain for Bush in the poll.
Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.) has also ticked upward 2 points to 9 percent, while Ohio Gov. John Kasich and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie have ticked down slightly.
Trump has come out swinging in recent days at cable networks and several GOP rivals following his performance in last week's debate and an uptick in interest for other candidates.
GOP voters say 4-1 that Fiorina outperformed Trump during last week's debate, according to the Quinnipiac poll, which found 29 percent say they would "definitely not support" Trump.
On the Democratic side, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton continues to outpace rivals, taking 43 percent in the poll while Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) gets 25 percent.
Vice President Joe Biden, who is mulling entering the Democratic race, snags 18 percent, with 10 percent of Democrats undecided at this point.
The survey of 737 Republicans and 587 Democrats was conducted Sept. 17-21 via landlines and cellphones with a margin of error of 3.6 points for Republicans and 4 points for Democrats.
