Thousands protest against corruption in Argentina

Protest criticizes impunity of members of Kirchner's government

More than 5,000 people took to the streets of Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Thursday night (3) to protest against impunity in corruption cases involving former government officials of Cristina Kirchner.
With the motto "Independent Justice - No More Impunity," the event was convened by social networks and gathered demonstrators carrying posters and white candles burning in front of the Palace of Justice. The aim of the militants is to demand justice on behalf of the victims of corruption. "We want to establish in society and among leaders the need for effective justice in the fight against corruption. Without justice there is no Republic," said Guillermo Lipera, president of the Buenos Aires Bar Association and one of the organizers of the act.
"I do not want to be a Chavista country," reads the caption of a protester's shirt. Others carried pictures of former Vice President Cristina, Amado Boudou, and former Federal Planning Minister, Julio De Vido. Earlier this week, an Argentine prosecutor asked Vido to be investigated for allegedly defrauding the state in one of the cases involving the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht in the country.
In addition, Cristina, however, is criticized because she is involved in legal proceedings concerning irregularities in dollar operations, favoring concessions in public works and illicit association.
