Trump promises "never seen fire and fury" against North Korea

US president gives ultimatum after revelation that Pyongyang already has technology to launch nuclear missile

US President Donald Trump vowed Tuesday to respond "with fire and fury" to North Korea if the country continues its threats to Washington . "It is better that North Korea does not make any more threats to the United States or face fire and fury like never before seen in the world," said Trump from his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, where he is vacationing .

The comments were made after the Washington Post revealed that US intelligence agencies estimate Pyongyang has already been able to produce compact nuclear warheads that can be transported by North Korean intercontinental missiles (ICBMs) .

The president's move comes as US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is on Asian soil to discuss with world leaders escalating tensions between Washington and Pyongyang. Over the weekend, the United Nations Security Council unanimously approved the implementation of new sanctions against North Korea due to the nuclear and ballistic missile programs of the Kim Jong-un regime .

On Sunday, however, the North Korean dictator accused the United States and its allies of maintaining its "hostile" policy against the country and threatened revenge with "a sea of fire" against them. It is estimated that the damage to the Asian country with the restrictions imposed by the UN can reach 2 billion dollars.

The ability to produce a warhead small enough to be installed inside a ballistic missile converts North Korea into a nuclear power, according to the Washington Post . The information revealed on Tuesday by the newspaper is part of a confidential assessment by the US Intelligence and Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). According to the publication, about 60 nuclear weapons are under the control of Kim Jong-un, but it is not known whether North Korea has already conducted tests with a compact warhead.
