A rare and well-preserved copy of Superman's first appearance in 1938 will be auctioned in the US.

A Profiles in History announced on Friday (17) that it will sell on Sunday a copy of the comic book "Action Comics # 1" at an auction in Los Angeles.

The magazine, which has Superman on the cover raising a car, is expected to fetch between $ 800,000 and $ 1.2 million (between $ 2.6 million and $ 3.75 million).

The auction comes just a few years before the superhero's 80th birthday. It includes other rare pieces, including a uniform worn by actor Christopher Reeve in the 1983 film "Superman."
