Seven immigrants were killed by extreme heat on the border between Mexico and the United States , according to Texas police. Among the victims are a woman, two babies and a child.
According to the state of the bodies, the authorities suspect that the four victims died days before they were found by the US Border Patrol in the Rio Grande neighborhood of southern Texas on Sunday. Exposure to heat and dehydration are the possible causes of death .
The migrant's extensive and clandestine crossings have intensified within the limits set by the Republican government, Donald Trump, which has limited the daily number of people who can seek refuge in the United States at border crossing points.
With the expectation of months in the queue waiting for the interviews with the American authorities, many migrant families choose to cross the border in a risky way to make their requests and to cross the desert region.
Coyotes, as they are called intermediaries of the illegal trafficking of people on the border, endanger the lives of migrants, leaving them in isolated areas or sending them to cross the Rio Grande on makeshift rafts.
The Border Patrol reported 283 immigrant deaths on the border between the United States and Mexico last year alone. Human rights activists say the number is much higher, as the remains of many victims are never found and agency data does not include all deaths recorded by local authorities.
