Only 9% of the promised donations to Notre-Dame materialized
Fire that destroyed part of the roof of the Cathedral on 15 April prompted a wave of solidarity in France, with the multiplication of promises of donations-from individuals to legal entities, such as the giant LVMH and Kering
Paris-Two months after the fire that devastated part of the Notre-Dame de Paris, only 9% of 850 million euros promised to restore your were transferred, although the authorities expect the amount is reached.

The fire that destroyed part of the roof of the Cathedral on 15 April prompted a wave of solidarity in France, with the multiplication of promises of donations-from individuals to legal entities, such as the giant LVMH and Kering.

So far, however, only 80 million euros, which were collected small donations from individuals.

The French Minister of culture, Frank Riester, confirmed the number on Friday (14), citing various causes to explain this difference between what was promised and what was received. The value had already been informed by Radio France Info.

"First, there are people who promise to donate and you didn't donate (...), but above all-and this is normal-, donations will be paid depending on the progress of the works," argued Riester.

"Arrangements are being made with the large donors", which will allow donations to be made in a legal framework, according to the Minister.

Sources from the Ministry of culture highlighted that large companies and patrons like the LVMH group (EUR 200 million pledged) and Kering (100 million euros) was asked to know how those values exactly will be invested.

Riester pointed out that "the wave of generosity must continue" and noted that the situation of the Cathedral remains fragile, as the dome "could still fall apart".

In parallel, the judicial investigation is underway to determine the causes of the incident, attributed to a short circuit.
