Washington — the House of representatives of the United States voted on Wednesday to effectively bring down for now a resolution of impeachment against the President, Donald Trump, but without bury the issue that has divided Democrats.
The author of the resolution, Democratic Rep. Al Green, sought to capitalize on growing criticism against Trump after the recent attacks he made to Mrs Democrats who belong to minorities.
The Chamber voted by 332 votes to 95 to overturn the measure.
Green had already failed twice in an attempt to adopt a resolution of impeachment, but this marked the first time that the Board has dealt with this issue since the Democrats took the majority in the House this year.
With the vote, the speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, had again to mediate a conflict between his colleagues of the Democratic Party, this time the debate on the impeachment resolution against Trump.
Pelosi long ago tries to avoid that Democrats start an impeachment process against Trump, waiting for a result of an investigation by the House Judiciary Committee about whether Trump would have conspired with Russia in case of interference in elections 2016 presidential and committed obstruction of Justice in the investigation of special prosecutor Robert Mueller about the subject.
Asked by reporters at the Capitol on Wednesday morning if she supported the Green resolution, Pelosi said: "no, I do not support ... My position surprise you? ".
James Clyburn, Democrat number 3 and an important ally of Pelosi, said she preferred that the resolution was waived. "I don't think we're ready to discuss it at the moment," he said.
Clyburn added that part of the reason for this was that Mueller should testify to Congress next week.
