After Iran attack, 50 US soldiers suffered traumatic brain injury

The missile attacks from Iran to a US base in Iraq in early January left 50 military US with traumatic brain injury, according to the Pentagon on Wednesday, 29. Previously, the US government had announced that only 16 soldiers were injured.
Symptoms of injuries include headaches, dizziness, sensitivity to light and nausea. Of the 50 injured, 31 were treated in Iraq and returned to service, including 15 of those most recently diagnosed, according to Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Campbell , a Pentagon spokesman .
Eighteen military personnel were sent to Germany for further evaluation and treatment. A soldier also traveled to Kuwait for treatment and has since returned to service, he said.
Initially, U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran's January 8 attack had not killed or injured any member of American forces. Just last week, the Republican appeared to minimize the injuries, saying that he "heard that they had headaches" and that he did not consider "the injuries very serious compared to other injuries I have seen".
The American leader, who avoided calling for the Vietnam war at age 22 with a certificate of parrot's beak (a type of arthritis), received criticism from war veterans for the comments. According to Pentagon data, about 408,000 service members have been diagnosed with traumatic brain injury since 2000.
The Iranian missile attacks were retaliation for the death of a senior Revolutionary Guard general, Qasem Soleimani , in a United States assault on Baghdad airport on January 3.
