Biden and Sanders lead Democrats in poll before Iowa primary

Research released on Wednesday, 29, shows that former United States Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders are tied in their intention to vote five days ahead of the so-called Iowa caucus, the first dispute in the process of choosing the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party .
Joe Biden appears with 23% of the voting intentions of likely voters of the caucus, according to a survey by the Monmouth University Institute, while Sanders has 21%. The leadership of the former North American vice president is within the margin of error of the research, which means that the two are technically tied.
Following are former South Bend, Indiana, mayor Pete Buuttigieg, with 16%, and Senator Elizabeth Warren, from Massachusetts, with 15%. Senator Amy Klobuchar, from Minnesota, has 10% and is the last candidate with a representative amount of voting intentions. The poll shows, however, that 45% of Iowa voters are open to changing their support on the voting night itself.
Democratic pre-candidates are making a final effort in Iowa, where the result is considered crucial for candidates seeking a party nomination. A favorable result in this vote propels a candidate to the next vote, while poor performance means the bitter end of a campaign. National polls, Biden is the favorite over Sanders and Warren.
Biden was the choice among older, more moderate voters, while Sanders attracts progressive and younger voters, according to the poll. The Monmouth University study was conducted by phone between January 23 and 27, consulting 544 likely Democratic caucus voters. The margin of error is plus or minus 4.2 percentage points, meaning that results may vary for both sides.
