Senate to start Trump trial next week
The chairman of the House of Representatives United States , Nancy Pelosi vowed on Friday, 10, sending the impeachment process against President Donald Trump to the Senate next week. This will immediately trigger Trump's trial by senators for crimes of misuse of power and congressional obstruction.
"I asked the Judiciary Committee chairman, Jerry Nadler [who judged the constitutionality of the impeachment request in December], to be prepared to bring to the plenary next week a resolution to nominate members and send the impeachment articles to the Senate," he said. I wrote in a letter to your Democratic committee.
The MP said she would "consult" with her fellow House Democrats at a meeting on Tuesday, 14. The Democratic-controlled plenary, with 232 out of 435 seats - still needs to vote on Pelosi's resolution so that the process of impeachment sent to the Senate for trial.
According to the impeachment ruling, the Senate is due to begin the trial by 1 pm the day after the House vote, unless Sunday. But a majority of 51 senators can vote in favor of changing this requirement and any of the 26 rules that dictate the impeachment process.
