Trump Says He Targets 52 Targets in Iran If Attacks on Americans

In a threatening tone, US President Donald Trump announced Saturday that he is targeting 52 targets in Iran if the country attacks any American in revenge for the death of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani , one of the most influential figures in the East. Medium that was hit by an American missile last Thursday, the 2nd, while leaving Iraq's Baghdad International Airport.
“As a warning that if Iran attacks any American or American facilities, we are targeting 52 Iranian sites (representing 52 American hostages taken by Iran years ago), some of them of high standing and of great importance to Iran and Iranian culture, and Iran itself will be hit very quickly and forcefully. The United States no longer wants threats, ”wrote the US president on Twitter.
In the post, Trump reclassified Soleimani, commander of a special unit of the Revolutionary Guard of Iran and considered the second most important authority in Iran, as a "terrorist leader" who killed an American and wounded "many others."
The choice of number 52 is a reference to the number of Americans who were held hostage in Tehran for 444 days in 1979 during the Iranian Revolution.
On Saturday, thousands of people took to the streets of Baghdad's capital to participate in the general's funeral procession, and chanted revenge of "death to the United States." Also on Saturday, a rocket was launched near the US embassy in the Green Zone, Baghdad's militarized area that brings together headquarters from various countries. The attack, however, registered no casualties.
The murder of Soleimani, the architect of Iran's Middle East policy, has raised fears of a new conflict in the region. The attack near Baghdad airport completely destroyed two vehicles and left a total of 10 dead, five Iraqi and five Iranian. Iran has promised "a harsh revenge at the appropriate time and place."
