Common skin disease that may be a sign of Alzheimer's
Rosacea is an inflammatory skin disease characterized by redness, especially in cheekbones, forehead, chin and nose.
Uma research published in the journal Annals of Neurology says that rosacea (a skin condition characterized by a facial redness) may be linked to Alzheimer's disease.
To achieve these results, lead author Alexander Egeberg and his team analyzed data from the Danish national health system between 1997 and 2012. The total population of the country, of approximately 5.6 million men and women, was included in the study and about 82,000 had rosacea.
The final findings showed that people with rosacea were seven percent more likely to develop any form of dementia and 25 percent more likely to develop Alzheimer's disease - than people without rosacea.
