Trump's plan for the Middle East will be "buried," says Palestinian Prime Minister
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh on Sunday criticized U.S. President Donald Trump's proposal to end the conflict in the Middle East, saying his plans will be "buried very soon." Speaking at the Munich Security Conference in Germany, Shtayyeh said u.S. plans "are nothing more than a memorandum of understanding between (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu and Trump."
Shtayyeh criticized the fact that the proposal would leave the future Palestinian state fragmented and with "no sovereignty," allowing Israel to annex large parts of the West
Bank. He urged other countries to reject Trump's proposal and reaffirmed that palestinians "are open to serious negotiations."
The Palestinian authority also suggested that it will increase pressure on Israel through international organizations, citing a recent disclosure by the United Nations Human Rights Office (UN) of a list of more than 100 companies that are allegedly complicit for violating Palestinian human rights, operating in Israeli settlements in the occupied West
Bank.
In reference to the coming election in Israel, Shtayyeh compared the difference between Israeli opposition leader Benny Gantz and Netanyahu, who would be like "Coca-Cola and Pepsi."
