Death toll from coronavirus in Italy exceeds 1,400
The death toll in the epidemic of the new coronavirus (Sars-CoV-2) in Italy reached 1,441, according to a balance released this Saturday (14) by the Civil Defense. This represents an increase of 175 victims in 24 hours.
The number of contagions reached 21,157, including 17,750 cases still active (+ 2,795) and 1,966 patients cured (+527). According to the head of Civil Protection, Angelo Borrelli, 1,518 people are in the intensive care unit. The data show that there was a 36.7% increase in the number of recovered people in the last 24 hours. The number of dead increased 13.8%. In the Lombardy region, in particular, the number of deaths increased by only 8%, equivalent to 76 cases, against 146 recorded yesterday (13). The epicenter city in Italy had a total of 966 victims, followed by neighboring Emilia-Romagna (241).
Deaths also occurred in the regions of Veneto (55), Piedmont (59), Marche (36), Liguria (27), Lazio (13), Friuli Veneza Giulia (13), Tuscany (six), Puglia (eight), Sicily (two), Abruzzo (two), Trentino-Alto Adige (two), Aosta Valley (one), Campania (six), Umbria (one) and the province of Bolzano (three)
