1. Ferguson shooting case heads to grand jury
St. Louis County prosecutors are to present evidence Wednesday to a local grand jury as part of its investigation into the fatal shooting of Michael Brown. Local investigators have interviewed Ferguson, Mo., police Officer Darren Wilson and he will be "offered the opportunity" to testify if he chooses, officials said. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder will arrive in Ferguson Wednesday to talk with FBI agents and Justice Department officials involved in the federal investigation of Brown's death. Holder will also meet "with other leaders in the community whose support is so critical to bringing about peace and calm in Ferguson."
2. British national may have beheaded U.S. journalist
The apparent beheading of American journalist James Foley by an Islamic State militant may have been undertaken by a British national, the United Kingdom's Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond conceded Wednesday.
3. Flagship HTC One handset is coming to Windows Phone
This week, HTC is bringing its flagship model to Windows Phone, and the hardware is in all but the subtlest ways indistinguishable from its Android twin. Out of the gate, Verizon Wireless will be the sole U.S. carrier — no word on when the exclusivity ends.The phone is available in stores Wednesday under promotional pricing of $99.99 with a two-year contract.

4. Teens who are having babies are having them down south
Of the teenagers having babies, most of them live in the South and Southwest and almost half of them are Hispanic. Births per 1,000 teenagers (ages 15–19) range from a low of 13.8 in New Hampshire to a high of 47.5 in New Mexico, according to a report from the National Center for Health Statistics. Asian or Pacific Islanders had the lowest 2012 rate at 9.7, compared with Hispanic teens who had the highest rate at 46.3.
5. Dan Sullivan wins GOP nomination for U.S. Senate in Alaska
Sullivan, a former Alaska attorney general, will now take on Democratic Sen. Mark Begich in one of the 10 top competitive races that will determine control of the U.S. Senate next year. Begich faced only token opposition in the Democratic primary, and was declared the winner shortly after polls closed.
