Home design is inspired by the cliff in barnacles prey on ships

Projeto criado pelo escritório Modscape para a 'Casa no Penhasco', na Austrália

An Australian company has created a design of an idealized home for residents who have no fear of heights. Named "Cliff House" or "House on Cliff," the future construction will have breathtaking views of the ocean and will be located on the edge of a cliff, is really taking shape.

The concept was created by Modscape company, based in Australia, that designs and builds prefabricated homes.

The design has three bedrooms (one master suite), a living room, a garage, a toilet, a spa and a barbecue on the lower floor.

The internal décor is deliberately minimalist to the visitor or the resident pay attention "in transcendental views of the ocean."

According to the site office, the outline took shape when a couple visited the company and the designers questioned whether it was possible to build a summer home in the coastal ends of the state of Victoria, Australia.

Inspired by how the barnacles cling to the hulls of ships, the project provides for the division of the house into five modules connected by an elevator and a staircase from a platform at the height of the cliff top.

The structure would be attached to the rock by steel pins.

At first glance, a major obstacle would be the sea air - after all, the house could be subject to corrosion coming from the sea - but, according to Maxwell Hutchinson, former president of the Royal Institute of British Architects, there is no physical reason why the construction can not take shape.

Suspended beams attached to the hillside could endure the structure, such as crampons support climbers.
