Trump Is Criticized For Playing Golf During Panic In Hawaii

NEW YORK, Jan. 15 (Dow Jones) - US President Donald Trump is being criticized by local media for playing golf at his Florida estate while the population of Hawaii panicked over a mistranslated missile alert .
The official alarm was sent to citizens' phones last Saturday (13) and said a missile was on its way to the state, the most vulnerable in the event of a North Korean attack. However, the message was triggered by an employee's error.
Amidst the confusion, Trump continued playing golf in Florida and preferred to use Twitter to attack the press. "I could have immediately feared that the alert was false, immediately sharing the information with millions of Americans," the Washington Post said.
The White House issued only a brief statement, and several hours later, reporting that the president had been "informed" that the episode was tied to an "exercise in the state of Hawaii." The president only came to the public on Monday to ask that the mistake not be repeated.
"It was a question that concerns only Hawaii. They made a mistake and took responsibility. We hope it does not happen again, and we'll figure it out so people will not get their nerves so tense, "he said. (ANSA)
