Before crowning, king of Thailand secretly marries

Maha Vajiralongkorn will be crowned at events between May 4 and 6

Thailand won a new queen a few days before the king's coronation. Maha Vajiralongkorn, who will take office formally next Monday (6), married secretly with the deputy commander of his bodyguard unit. "Vajiralongkorn decided to promote General Suthida Vajiralongkorn Na Ayudhya, her real companion, who becomes Queen Suthida and now has the royal title and status as part of the royal family," the statement said.
According to the statement, the 66-year-old king "promoted a marriage ceremony following the law and the royal traditions in a complete and right manner."
The royal wedding took place at Ampornsathan Throne Hall in Bangkok, the capital of the Asian country. During the ceremony, Suthida had to lower herself to the king's feet to have her head wet with holy water. After the act, both signed the official document of the marriage. According to local media, Vajiralongkorn and Suthida, 44, had been dating for years, but the case had never been publicly revealed. Suthida was a flight attendant for Thai Airways until she was appointed by Vajiralongkorn as deputy chief of her personal security. In December 2016 she was appointed general of her army. However, more details of her life can not be revealed because now, as a member of the royal family, she is protected by lese majeste law.
The marriage preceded the coronation ceremonies of King Vajiralongkorn as the tenth monarch of the Chakri dynasty, which will take place May 4-6. The new queen must attend some of the official programming events.
