Trump arrives in the UK preceded by controversy on Brexit and confrontation with mayor of London

US President Donald Trump landed in the United Kingdom on Monday for a three-day official visit with all honors and many scheduled protests, preceded by a controversy over Brexit and a verbal confrontation with the mayor of London .
Trump's plane landed at 9am local time (5am GMT) at London's Stansted airport. Even before the landing, the president published messages on Twitter with attacks on the mayor of the British capital, Labor Sadiq Khan.
"Sadiq Khan, who does a lousy job as mayor of London, has been foolishly 'unpleasant' with the president of the United States, by far the most important ally in the United Kingdom," he wrote.
"He's a total failure who should focus on crime in London, not me," he added.
The London mayor of the Labor Party has criticized in recent days the red-carpet reception of the American president, a trip with all the honors of a state visit, which includes protocolary meetings with Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace.
Khan compared Trump's language to that of the "twentieth-century fascists" and included him in the same group as the extremists Viktor Orban in Hungary, Matteo Salvini in Italy, Marine Le Pen in the France and Nigel Farage in the UK.
The 72-year-old president, however, said he wanted to be a "great friend of the United Kingdom" at the start of his first state visit to the country after an attempt in July last year that became a simple working visit in as thousands of Britons called him "misogynist, homophobic and xenophobic."
For this week's visit, large demonstrations were also held, particularly on Tuesday, when Trump will meet with Prime Minister Theresa May.
The president and First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, were to go directly to the US ambassador's residence in London, where they will remain hosted during the visit. At noon they must attend Buckingham Palace, where they will be greeted by Queen Elizabeth II for a private ceremony, followed by a lunch and gift exchange.
In the afternoon, the Trump family should visit Westminster Abbey in the center of the British capital before having tea with Prince Charles, heir to the British throne, and his wife Camila.
The first day of the visit will end with an official banquet offered with all honors by the 93-year-old monarch.
Behind all the pomp remains the hassle in a country awaiting the official's departure from office next Friday. May was defeated by her inability to complete Brexit, decided by referendum in 2016, but postponed on two occasions and now scheduled for October 31.
In British media interviews on the eve of the trip, Trump criticized the way the Conservative leader negotiated with Brussels, urging his successor to leave the European Union without an agreement and appointed former Foreign Minister Boris Johnson as his favorite to govern the country.
The US president also praised extremist Farage, leader of the Brexit Party, the big winner of the European elections in the United Kingdom. On the plane, he even said he could meet with Farage and Johnson, with whom he said he had "great relationships."
"It's an unacceptable interference in our democracy," criticized Labor opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn.
