Half the planet is on social networks - already 3.5 billion users

Facebook is still the most popular network of all - but Snapchat's growth is surprising.

It's hard to know someone not on any social networks. Now the Global Digital Statshot 2019 report by US data companies Hootsuite and We Are Social confirms that it is difficult indeed: 3.5 billion people have sign-ups on some social nBut the Twitter , which has 254 million users, showed a 3% drop in its audience. In it, the dominant age range is adults between 18 and 34 years.
Unsurprisingly, most social network users are on the sites controlled by Zuckerberg: Instagram and Facebook . The first, which has recently been at the center of the news because of its new strategy of hiding the likes of posts, already totals 849 million people. On the world's most popular photo platform, most users are between 25 and 34 years old.
But it is Facebook that follows as the flagship of networks, totaling nearly 2 billion users -  1.944 billion, to be exact. Although its growth in the last three months is “only” 4%, it is still on Facebook that is the largest engagement of users of social networks. Even among teens: According to the report, contrary to popular belief, Facebook is the network most commonly used by people ages 13-17.
In addition to social networks, the report also brings other relevant data on internet use: currently 4, 33 billion people have access to it and there is a steady growth in the use of vocal commands - and consequently the action of assistants like Siri , Alexa , and Google Assistant . According to the document, more than 100 million people have been using search and other voice actions since April this year, and a total of 1.88 billion controls their devices in this way.
Want to know other information pointed by the survey? You can access the full version of it here .etwork. It gives almost half of the 7.7 billion people on the planet.
The report looks at Internet usage between April and June 2019. It points out that the vast majority of social networking users (3.4 billion) access these sites using mobile phones. People between 16 and 34 years old represent the majority of users. Curiosity: 5 billion people, according to the survey, use mobile phones. This is simply the entire adult population on the planet (15 to 65 years). If you know an adult who doesn't use a cell phone, then it's because you have a child or someone a little older using it instead. Anyway, 5 billion is equivalent to "everybody". And 3.5 billion, of course, is not far from it.
Most interesting of this new report is the performance analysis of the most popular social networks in the world. The Snapchat , for example, which is not part of the large conglomerate of networks controlled by Mark Zuckerberg, has proved increasingly popular thanks to the success of new updates and filters -like that transforms the user 's face in a baby face , which went viral worldwide last month.
As a result, Snapchat's audience numbers have increased by 19% over the past 3 months, reaching a total of 369 million users at the end of June 2019. That means an increase of nearly 60 million users since April, with growth rates. consistent across all age groups.
