Trump quit question about nationality in the 2020 census

President asked analysis on immigrants without u.s. citizenship; opponents believe that question illegal coibiria to participate in research

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, gave up to include a question about citizenship in the U.S. Census of 2020. On the other hand, requested that the Government review its files to inform you about how many of the migrants present in the country do not have American citizenship.
"We're following a new option," said Trump the journalists in the gardens of the White House. "We will use (the data from the different agencies) to elaborate a complete calculation of the population that is not American citizen. I believe it will be much more accurate than include the question in the census, he added.
So, Trump gave up efforts to add the question to the census, two weeks after the Supreme Court of the country claim that the Government had not made a proper reason to include this question in the form.
In a first moment, the President refused to accept the decision of the Supreme and asked his lawyers to explore options to include it. The Census Bureau, however, had already begun to print the forms without the question, and the dispute hurt the development of the national survey, according to Trump himself.
"We can use the information (Government agencies) along with the questionnaire to create the official census", defended the President on Thursday 11.
The inclusion of the question about citizenship in the Census protests sparked by country. Some States, like New York, and immigrant rights organizations argued that the question instigaria fear among immigrants that the information be shared with immigration agents.
Mandatory according to the Constitution of the United States, the census is used as the basis for allocating the seats in the House of representatives and to distribute the 800 billion dollars of federal funds. The purpose of the question about citizenship, according to his opponents, was to produce an intentional subcontagem in areas with many immigrants and large number of latinos.
These areas are traditionally pockets of democratic voters and would have reduced the number of representatives if its residents not to participate in the census, helping the Republican government and the Hispanic Americans.
Although they cannot vote, not immigrants naturalized Americans account for 7% of the country's population and are accounted for at the time of distributing the number of seats per State.
Allies of Trump replied that the inquiry would ensure the strengthening of the right to vote. The Declaration of citizenship is not part of the census questionnaire since 1950. According to the United States Census Bureau, 6.5 million people do not respond to the survey, if the question was included in the questionnaire.
