California must suspend classes until the end of the year; Las Vegas closes casinos
The more than six million students in the state of California are unlikely to return to school later this school year, Governor Gavin Newsom said on Tuesday, as
"I would plan and assume that many of these schools are unlikely ... if any, to reopen before the summer break," said Newsom.
Currently, 98.8% of schools in the most populous state in the United States are closed, and other rural educational institutions are expected to follow suit.
The regional government has released emergency funds to finance “distance learning” so that students can study at home, as well as sending school lunches to families in greatest need, in addition to supporting students with physical limitations.
California has more than 470 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus, including 12 deaths.
Las Vegas closed casinos
All Las Vegas casinos will close their doors for a month, by order of the Nevada state governor issued on Tuesday, aimed at stopping the new coronavirus pandemic.
Governor Steve Sisolak ordered the closure of non-essential businesses, including bars, cinemas, gyms and restaurants
