Trump's fortune plummets nearly $ 4 billion during presidency
The net worth of former President Donald Trump fell by about $ 700 million (almost R $ 3.9 billion), reaching an estimated total of $ 2.3 billion (about R $ 12.8 billion) during his time as president of the United States, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
The covid-19 pandemic has hit its fortune heavily, with Trump's commercial buildings, hotels and resorts losing revenue and market value.
Its fleet of airplanes and golf courses also declined.
Today, Trump is under a criminal investigation into his financial affairs and those of his family.
rump's commercial real estate represents about three-quarters of his net worth. The office towers that he owns or has a stake in have suffered huge drops in valuations as more people work from home, a trend that may last.
Bloomberg, which combines journalistic information with financial data, estimates a 26% drop in the value of its main commercial properties. Trump also owns, manages or licenses his name for about a dozen hotels and resorts, in addition to 19 golf courses.
Although golf became popular during the pandemic as an outdoor sport, Trump's two courses in Scotland have consistently lost money, according to reports analyzed by Bloomberg.
After the January Congressional invasion by Trump supporters, the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) of America ended an agreement to host the 2022 championship tournament on Trump's golf course in New Jersey. The measure was adopted to avoid damage to the competition's brand.
Deutsche Bank, the only bank willing to lend him money after his bankruptcy in the 1990s, also said that after the invasion of the Capitol, it would not do business with him again.
Trump also has a fleet of planes that include a Boeing 757. These planes are decades old and have lost value over the years, according to financial disclosures analyzed by Bloomberg.
Seven planes were valued at almost US $ 59 million in 2015 (about R $ 330 million in current values), but in 2020 the value of five of them together dropped to US $ 6.5 million (almost R $ 36 million). Trump's assets in this regard also plummeted because he sold part of his fleet.
According to the American magazine Forbes, another publication specializing in this type of survey, Trump's fortune may have suffered a shock of up to $ 1 billion (R $ 5.6 billion) amid restrictions with the covid-19.
Criminal financial investigation
During his presidency, Trump saw his finances constantly in the spotlight, as he struggled in court to keep his tax returns under wraps.

But last month the U.S. Supreme Court ordered Trump to hand over his tax returns and other financial records to prosecutors in New York.
Investigators tried for months and months to get the eight-year figures from Trump's personal and corporate tax returns.
The investigation was launched in 2018 to examine the Trump Organization's role in secret payments made during the 2016 presidential campaign for two women who said they had had affairs with Trump.
A possible breather for Trump's accounts should come from potentially lucrative media businesses, like a post-presidential memoir.
Barack and Michelle Obama reportedly received about $ 65 million for their memoirs, while Bill Clinton won an advance of $ 15 million ($ 84 million) for his 2004 book.
Bloomberg says the most obvious way Trump can profit after the presidency is with a news channel or social media platform to attract part of his 74 million voters in the 2020 election, in which he was defeated by Democrat Joe Biden.
Possible partnerships point to cable television networks such as One American News Network (Oann) or Newsmax.
Oann is the president's favorite and vice versa, and Trump has already been described as the "leading part, muse part" of the channel in a report in the American magazine The Atlantic.
Christopher Ruddy, CEO of Newsmax, a conservative TV channel, was dubbed the "Trump confidant" by the American newspaper Washington Post.
